YMCA of Greater Syracuse
The Downtown Writers Center is a program of the Metropolitan School for the Arts Branch of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse, and a member of the prestigious YMCA National Writer's Voice network. The Center is located in a quaint room within the Downtown YMCA, and provides creative writing workshops and literary events in a community-oriented setting. Literary Series Profile: The reading series at the Downtown Writer's Center features a diverse group of nationally recognized authors, both poetry and fiction. The current schedule includes authors Reginald Shepherd, Dorianne Laux, Thom Ward, Anthony Piccione, Barbara Crooker and Katharyn Machan. All readings are free and open to the public. Additional events at the Downtown Writer's Center include readings by Center faculty and students.
