Long Island University?Brooklyn Campus
For several years, the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University has hosted a series of readings and performances by noted poets and writers. The series, entitled "Voices of the Rainbow: Celebrating the Oral Tradition," presents authors from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Their artistic vision is to bring authors who are not only talented writers but also spirited performers. We have featured prominent poets and writers such as Ntozake Shange, Martin Espada, Miguel Algarin, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Gwendolyn Brooks, Ishmael Reed, and Gloria Naylor as well as emerging talents including Edwidge Danticat, Tracie Morris, Junot Diaz, and Sapphire. All readings are free and open to the public.
